A few of my current favourites!

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Hi ladies!

Today, I wanted to share with you a few of my current favourite products / items that I think you'll also love too!

1. Twist & Spritz

AKA the best invention, ever! Gone are the days of carrying around a bottle of perfume in my handbag, I now have my twist and spritz mini perfume atomiser. Basically, it's a mini perfume bottle that you can fill up with your favourite fragrance (8ml to be precise) so in other words, it's handbag and travel friendly. I use mine for nights out, everyday use in my handbag and especially for travelling! Available from The Fragrance Shop.

2. Monsoon Grapefruit and Vetiver Diffuser

I am absolutely obsessed with candles and diffusers, especially for my bedroom! I think I must get it from my mum as we always have candles on and so when I smelt this Monsoon diffuser, I knew I had to share it! Scented with grapefruit and vetiver it really gives a fresh smelling scent to my bedroom and I can't get enough of it!

3. DKNY Nectar Love

Having always been a fan of DKNY perfumes in the past I was very excited by their newest launch, Nectar Love. I always find it a little tricky to describe scents but the best description is floral and fruity.  Another huge factor for me when buying a new perfume is the bottle design! Perhaps it's the blogger in me but they have got to look pretty on your dressing table, right?!

4. Vita Liberata Gradual Tanning Lotion with Marula Oil.

Now that autumn is well and truly here,  fake tan has become my best friend. I mean, it always has been really but in autumn and winter I rely on it to give me a little boost! Anyway, I was kindly sent a box of tanning goodies and of course, decided to try them out! The reason I've picked the gradual tan as my favourite is because it is so simple to use and it is perfect to pop on before bed. It gives a gradual glow and it feels so smooth on the skin that I don't have to worry about any streaky, dry patches!

5. Revlon Youth FX Foundation

I don't often blog about foundations but I recently tried the Revlon Youth FX foundation in shade nude. I always opt for a full-coverage smooth foundation and this is certainly what I got with this product. Admittedly, I was sceptical at first as I am an avid MAC fan, however, I was so impressed that this has actually become my daily foundation! Definitely a must-try!

6. Le Mini Macaron Gel Manicure Kit

Seriously if this isn't the cutest thing you've seen then I don't know what is! The kit, containing a cuticle stick, nail file, remover pads, USB adaptor, gel polish and an led lamp, is everything you need for the ultimate pamper session! If you are girly like me, you will love the strawberry pink polish and it definitely saves a trip to the nail salon! I wasn't sure I would get on with the kit at first, but I am so impressed that my friends are actually buying their own kits! Of course you may prefer to have somebody else paint your nails but it is just perfect for an on the go mani!

I am thinking of regularly featuring a few items that I'm loving every month either on here or on my YouTube channel to keep you guys updated!

My Current Skincare Routine / Review!

Tuesday, September 12, 2017

Good morning ladies,

Not so long ago, I noticed that my skin began to look dull, dry and I generally felt as if I had lost my natural glow. As cliche as it sounds, I felt like I looked ten times older than my age and that my skin looked a little lifeless!

As you all know, I suffered badly with acne as a teenager and as a result, I have always been extremely self conscious about my skin. A few years back, infact many years back (around 7 I'd say), I used Dermalogica skincare - a brand that has always interested me. I used products specifically targeted to spot-prone skin (Clear Start range) and I found that although they really helped, I didn't need to use them continuously as my skin (luckily) cleared up.

Fast forward a few years, and as mentioned, I felt my skin was starting to look dull and I knew that I wanted to do something about it, I just wasn't sure what! I was then recommended a few Dermalogica products and unsurprisingly, I began to love the way they were making my skin look and feel! That being said, I filmed a Current Skincare Routine and decided that it would also be beneficial to review the range individually to enable me to go a little more in-depth!

My Top 3 Recommendations!

Pre Cleanse:

One of my absolute favourite products! Dermalogica believe in a two-step cleanse process and this is the product I use to effectively melt that makeup off my face! Sounds gross and actually pretty scary, don't worry it doesn't actually involve 'melting' anything! It's just the most satisfying feeling, it essentially feels like an oil and I smoothe it across my face gently using sweeping circular motions to soak it into my skin. As it's consistency is oil-based it literally feels so satisfying that your makeup is almost sliding off into your hands! I guess you're probably thinking, blimey she must wear a lot to feel like that but, I actually don't!

Special Cleansing Gel:

My second cleanse process is the Special Cleansing Gel - a product that works very well with the Pre Cleanse. I apply a small amount to the tips of my fingers and mix it with water to create a foaming style wash. This product is again very light and I feel like you can actually immediately feel how clean and smooth your skin is!

Daily Microfoliant:

I use this exfoliant three times a week (maximum) and that's purely because I find it to be a little rough on my skin. Don't get me wrong, it definitely does a perfect job of exfoliating and getting rid of those awful dead skill cells but any more than that and I feel my skin would be a little red! One thing that's important to note with this product is that it is made up of small granules and if you are using this whilst in the shower it is best to keep the lid on the product to avoid the steam getting in and clogging it up! To see how I apply this product, head to my YouTube Lauren Faye!

Next, we move onto moisturising; an essential part of our skincare routine! I use the Intensive Moisture Balance - perfect for dry skin as it's really hydrating and also combats premature ageing - win, win! I use this morning and night, although some days if my skin is feeling particularly hydrated, I'll skip the morning.
Tip: If you are going to use this every morning, I'd recommend applying around 45 minutes before applying makeup to ensure it completely soaks in!

Newness!

There are two more products that I'd like to share with you as a kind of FYI! Although I don't incorporate them consistently into my daily skincare routine, they are products I would recommend if you have any concerns around your eyes or lip area.

Stress Positive Eye Lift:

This product is PERFECT if you feel you have visible signs of stress - which believe me, I most certainly do! The eye lift is designed to minimize the appearance of puffiness and dark circles. I have used mine a few times but as mentioned, I don't use it daily, this is purely because I don't feel I need to. I leave it on for 3-5 minutes and then rub the excess into my skin but if you feel you want to remove it you can do so!

Nightly Lip Treatment:

So I've used this product a handful of times so far, and admittedly I was sceptical at first! It is designed to smooth the appearance of laughter and feather lines whilst you sleep. I decided to give it a go and popped a pea-size amount on overnight and I was actually surprised to see that I woke up to smoother looking lips! I do feel that with the colder season approaching, I will be relying on it more! It is a little pricey so I would recommend it as a little treat rather than a daily skincare routine product.

I have linked all of the products below and if you have any questions regarding these products or my skincare routine please feel free to message me!

Special Cleansing Gel: Available here.

A Girlie London break: K West Hotel & Spa

Thursday, August 10, 2017

Hi ladies!

Today, I'm sharing with you a little feature on a hotel in London that I would recommend checking out!
Not so long ago, myself and my fellow blogger babe Charlotte visited the K West Hotel & Spa in Shepherds Bush, London. We were on the lookout for a relaxing, girlie break after a busy few weeks and this is exactly what we were provided with! From the minute we arrived the staff were extremely helpful; we were shown around the spa and all relevant information was explained to us (breakfast, dinner plans, check out etc).

The hotel itself is extremely 'instagrammable' and actually holds a really interesting history - it used to be a BBC recording studio in the 70s! Located a few minutes walk from Westfield, it really is the perfect place to stay if you are looking to book a shopping break - especially with Christmas creeping up on us. Yes, I did just say that!

After checking into our room, we were greeted with a platter of mini desserts to welcome us which was a lovely touch! One of my favourite things about the bedroom was the miniature White Company goodies that were placed in the bathroom. It really added a luxurious touch!

We decided that we were going to spend the day in the spa and although it isn't huge, it was perfect for our needs. We made use of the pool and had a lovely girlie catchup whilst sipping on lemon infused water that is readily available for all to enjoy. We were lucky enough to be the only ones in there at one point and so we could fully relax and enjoy the experience. Unfortunately, the 'Snow Paradise' feature was broken but I'd absolutely love to experience this next time!

We decided to book a table in the hotel restaurant for dinner to experience the hotel properly. I have to say, we were both very impressed! We hadn't managed to have lunch so we decided to go all out and order a main and dessert each, standard for me usually anyway! We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly it arrived and I don't think I've ever eaten so fast in my life; it was lovely!
There was a real selection on the menu and in all honesty, I found it very difficult to pick as there were a few favourites of mine on the menu!
We were so full after dinner that we decided to go back to our room and watch Love Island - the addiction was real haha! We had twin beds which were actually super comfortable - we first thought about pushing them together to make a double but we ended up being so comfortable we couldn't be bothered to move! That and the fact that we were feeling a little lazy after our spa day!  Charlotte ordered room service (hot chocolate, obvs) and I ended up regretting not getting one as it looked dreamy!
We ended up ordering our breakfast to our room, which you can do for an extra £20. It was an absolute treat to wake up and not have to move for breakfast! I have to say, the quality of the hotel really is excellent. The finishing touches in the room, the service and the whole experience really do make for a perfect stay. There was absolutely no noise and it was actually very peaceful throughout the hotel which is great if you are looking for a relaxing break.
Rooms start at £129 and you can find more information here.

Take a good look at yourself...

Wednesday, August 02, 2017

Hey ladies!

I decided to write this post after a very recent wake up call. Towards the end of last year, someone very close to me had been diagnosed with a type of skin cancer and I have to say, when I saw the affected area I was taken completely by surprise. I always thought of skin cancer as an odd shaped mole that had perhaps changed in texture or size whereas this looked like a patch of dry skin that was a little pink in colour. As I'm sure you'll agree, many of us wouldn't even consider going to the doctors if we had, what we thought was a little pink dry patch on our skin, we may put it down to eczema or psoriasis.

I genuinely couldn't get my head around the fact that this little patch of skin was actually a form of skin cancer.  I was then shocked to discover that there are two other major types of skin cancer aside from melanoma...

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC).

About 75% of skin cancers are BCC. They are usually slow-growing and don't spread to other parts of the body. If they are treated early most BCC's are completely cured.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma:

The second most common type of skin cancer, often slow-growing. Most people with SCC are completely cured, however if left untreated for a long period of time there is a possibility it can spread to other parts of the body. Occasionally, they can behave more aggressively and spread at a relatively early stage.

Maligmant Melanoma:

This is a less common type of skin cancer in comparison to the other two types mentioned, however it is far more serious. Melanoma behaves very differently to BCC and SCC cancers. It can grow very quickly and it needs to be treated early. If is not removed the cells can grow deeper into the layers of the skin, these layers contain tiny blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. If the melanoma gets into the blood or lymphatic vessels it can travel to other parts of the body.

I know this sounds really scary so I won't go into any more detail but I really wanted to write this post because although many of you may already know this, there may be one person that didn't. I just want to raise awareness of the importance of checking your skin and taking a good look at yourself. If there is ever anything you are unsure about, be it a mole or a patch of skin, please get yourself checked out.

I have popped two photos below, unfortunately they are very blurry but you can see the outcome of such a small patch of skin.

I know we all love summer and the thought of getting a tan but it is SO important to wear SPF at all times and take the time to look after ourselves. I am so relieved to say that my relative had a small operation to remove it and is now clear but it really has changed my views on sun protection. For more information please visit the Cancer Research website.

Time to dig out the fake tan instead please ladies!

Back on that health kick...

Tuesday, June 06, 2017

Hey girls!

I have decided that this week is going to be the week that I get back into the gym and start looking after my body properly! For the past few months I have been eating absolute rubbish, hardly working out and just wearing out my body! On top of that, a few weeks ago I ended up in hospital with a bad chest and I just decided enough was enough!

And with that in mind...I wanted to share with you my new activewear set! Realistically we all need a new set to motivate us, right?! You may remember when I visited the JD Women press day earlier this year and I specifically mentioned a khaki Pink Soda set that I was obsessed with. Well.. you guessed it, it's finally dropped!

I literally love it and I think Pink Soda have absolutely nailed it with this set!

Leggings: Available here.

Nike Free Run Commuter 2 ....

Tuesday, May 30, 2017

Hi girls!

As you all know, I have an obsession with trainers; I live in them! So, you can imagine my excitement as soon as JD mentioned their new  Nike Free Run Commuter 2 trainers; I knew I had to try them out!

They are very comfortable and extremely versatile. I often wear mine with either jeans or leggings, as you will see below - they really do go with any outfit! Of course, they're designed for the gym / a run etc but like I said sometimes it's nice to pair them with everyday wear! I also feel like these would be the perfect option for your commute to work, they are honestly so lightweight and I don't think you could get any comfier!

For these and other womens trainers check out my faves,  JD Sports.

My Top 5 Royal Ascot Picks!

Thursday, May 18, 2017

Hey ladies!

So racing season is fast approaching and I know only too well the struggle of finding the perfect dress. With that in mind, I have picked my top 5 dresses that I am currently loving!

This is one of my fave looks for Ascot. You can't go wrong with a classy floral detail dress, last year my friends and I all wore dresses by Quiz and I literally loved them all! Pair with some coloured heels to brighten it up and a cream fascinator and you're good to go!

I am obsessed with this dress! You really have the opportunity to make this look as dressy as you wish. You can make this a classic look with black heels and a black fascinator or you can experiment a little with metallic colours!

So some of you may think this outfit is a little dark for the races but it is perfect for those of you that want to cover up that little bit more! For £15 it really is perfect if you are on a budget and you can again dress the look up with an up-do and accessories!

The PERFECT classy Ascot dress! This dress is perfect for all enclosures, the straps aren't too thin and the dress isn't too short. I would pair this up with a pashmina and cute heels!

The classic go-to Ascot look. Black and cream is possibly the easiest colour scheme to go for, especially if you want to keep budget to a minimum. All of us have a pair of black heels and you can dress it up with a killer necklace!

I hope this has given you a little inspo!

Living in loungewear..

Thursday, May 11, 2017

Hey everyone!

As you may have been able to tell I am currently obsessed with loungewear/trainer combos! I just think they are perfect for a stylish yet casual look.

My latest set is by Pink Soda Sport and I could not be happier with it! It's very much focussed on lifestyle wear rather than activewear and it is SO comfortable to wear.

Of course I had to coordinate with (almost) matching trainers, I opted for the Adidas Tubulars in white and they are a new favourite of mine!  One thing I love about JD Sports is that they literally have the biggest variety of Women's Trainers in the styles we love!

It is safe to say this will be my go-to casual look for a while!
